So a major over-haul, renovation, face-lift, whatever you want to call it is happening with my little business that is QUICKLY becoming much bigger than I had anticipated. I originally began to take photos in order to make a little money on the side to pay for my future-husband’s wedding gift and/or honeymoon. I felt like taking a little money here and there out of his paycheck wasn’t really a gift FROM ME. So that was how this all started.
I am truly blessed for how things have turned out though. It is a HUGE learning process and I think it always will be. But I have had to learn and experiment on my own. Honestly, the photographers I have reached out to and (until now) respected have been absolutely no help and have given me the cold shoulder. But I am grateful for the handful of photographers in my area that have been sweet and, if anything, are just in the same boat as I am…creating a name for themselves and taking it one step at a time.
I thought I’d give an update on what will be coming soon with Whitley Danielle Photography and how life is going with me as well if you care to know. 🙂 We are finally feeling settled in to our new home in Forney (Windmill Farms). It wasn’t what we wanted (WE WANTED LAND SO BAD, COUNTRY GIRL AT HEART HERE) but it was a good investment home and it will do just fine for now. We love our neighbors, at least the only ones we have met and hang out with and they have a great kiddo just a month younger than Charlotte. That’s what I always pictured if I could have picked the perfect neighbors. They seem so sweet and down-to-earth and I thank God we moved in next to them…hopefully they feel the same! Haha! I know me and Clay are one of those couples that you either love or can’t stand. 😉
Charlotte and I snuck away to San Antonio the weekend before my Easter Mini’s and her Grandpa (my dad) took her to Sea World for the first time. I have always loved Sea World and I almost cried during the Shamu show. I’m such a weirdo but honestly, I think seeing how she watched the show was so cute. Loved it. 😀 Other than that, we had a nice little first trip to the Dallas Zoo as well and I am so amazed at how SMART she is. Sometimes I can’t believe it. Also, we have discovered as of yesterday that our 15 month old child is in a SIZE 7 SHOE! WHAT?! I am starting to believe that she may actually be taller than me, her 6’0 mom.
So as far as Whitley Danielle Photography goes, I have decided to invest HEAVILY in marketing and making my look more polished. I have hired a website designer to get a professional site up and running for me (it’s nice to have people who do that stuff for me because Lord knows I do NOT have the time). I have also put in the order for a custom vinyl skin for my car. We are still in the designing phase but hopefully it’ll be done in the next 6-8 weeks, be on the lookout me. 😀 And I’ve ordered a few things to make my life easier such as address & logo stamps, CD sleeves, business cards in bulk, blah blah blah…you don’t want to hear about that stuff lol But anyways, I think those who have been with me for at least a few weeks know I haven’t stayed with one logo design for more that a month…well since all this marketing and custom site and stamp and car decal stuff is going on, the Antler & Heart logo is here to stay…at least for a little while! 😉
Why the deer antlers and heart? Deer antlers are a thing of power and strength. They show how big and bad a buck is. I love that symbolism and wanted it to reflect my determination to make this business a thriving one not easily shoved aside into the corners like most. I don’t want to be the mom that “takes pictures”. I want people to know who I am. I’m not asking for the whole state, nation, world to know who I am. But I want to be a trusted individual in my community that can capture memories for years to come. The heart on a string was to show that throughout my push-and-shove demeanor at times, I do have a heart. I cut people breaks ALL THE TIME! I UNDERSTAND that a bride is on a budget. I UNDERSTAND the single mom who isn’t getting paid enough child support and doing it on her own. I UNDERSTAND that your water heater broke and now you can’t pay what was originally agreed to. I want people to have what most photographers make absolutely impossible to reach.
I’ll get off my soapbox now.
